The primary goal of Blackfriar’s School of Fence is to further the renaissance of European martial arts in the modern age. Through continual research, an ever-evolving and historically accurate fighting system is presented to students. The fencing master Johannes Liechtenauer wrote: “If you are scared willingly, no fencing you should learn.” This school feels that if one has the resolve to show up and learn, then the virtues of courage, honor, and fortitude will follow in time. What this school offers is introduction, exploration, and application of fighting styles taught over 400 years ago in a safe and fun environment.
